I am Anita Walker, an entrepreneur with 20 years of experience developing corporate and small business websites — via SmartWebby.com which I founded in Dec 2000 at 22. I have my hands in a couple of dozen pies so will never have ‘nothing to say’ ;) On the work front I do: startup consulting, domaining, design, coding [javascript, python, PHP, ASP.net, AMP, PWA, Google Apps Script, flutter, etc.], content writing, databases, SEO, online marketing, GCP, data science, machine learning and more. Like all entrepreneurs, I chase my ideas with mad passion and hope to bring the next big thing to market one day. I enjoy helping fellow designers/coders/domainers without reservation since I learn more from teaching others. I am constantly expanding my skill-set coz’ I learn like a sponge and am never not learning something new — day in and day out.
Curiosity, not Chrysolite, should have been my middle name! ;)
On the personal front: From being just an avid reader and deep thinker, I have developed into a budding poet, amateur artist/photographer, and passionate writer. As a result, I have hundreds of unpublished little pieces of creative work that I am dying to share with the world. I dig acrylic/oil painting and also creating digital artwork; and hope to take that talent into fashion one day, starting with kickass tees based on them. I am also into gardening, fitness, and jewelry making as stress buster hobbies. Being a single mom to two teens, I am sure to have fun writing on parenting too. Though I wish I could find a “how to reverse engineer tiny monsters you raised” book by someone who did it successfully ;) Above it all, I love interacting with people who feel connected to me through my experiences, which is very empowering for me.
As you can understand from the above, I have a lot to share and hone, but unfortunately being a perfectionist has held me back a great deal. Though I am confident of my writing skills, having written hundreds of design and web development related articles & tutorials over the past 2 decades, I simply can’t plunge into anything with half-assed commitment (lol). I guess I also instinctively protected myself all along from trolls knowing that I look at the world a bit differently than people around me. I always felt twitter and other high exposure platforms weren’t good for a sensitive person hiding behind a tough exterior. However, I knew those feelings would one day change if I found the right platform, and here I am.
Upside Down World

Rewind a month plus to March 2020, panic all around as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic turned the world as we knew it upside down. Staying safe and keeping our family safe became everyone’s top concern overnight. For two weeks plus I watched all the news and kept feeling low. I was on auto-pilot to take care of home needs, but my mind was giving me a tough time. It grieved with the world and wondered if we will ever return to comfortably shaking hands, let alone hugging people. I soon realized that:
The sooner we accept a situation, the easier it will be to handle it correctly.
After weeks of unrest, I decided to walk down unexplored paths and also try reviving abandoned projects, just to keep my mind off the nightmare rocking our world. It worked! Plus, it resulted in many cathartic creations, mostly in the written form. I finally now feel the urge to share my “creative expressions” with the world alongside my expertise.
Unexplored paths need our full concentration.
